New Jersey man dies after hit-and-run accident

A Lanoka Harbor man, 61, died after he was struck by a drunk driver on Nov. 10. According to reports, the pedestrian was carried on the hit-and-run driver's windshield for approximately a mile until the vehicle was stopped by police.

Multi-vehicle semitrailer crash kills 1

A crash on the New Jersey Turnpike resulted in death for one of the truckers involved when three semitrailers collided and caught fire the evening of Nov. 18. Although no charges or citations have been issued as of this report, a New Jersey State Police representative said the investigation is ongoing. The trucker who died in the crash was reportedly from Clayton, Delaware.

2 pedestrians seriously injured in New Jersey hit-and-run

New Jersey police say that two brothers were struck by a vehicle while they were walking home from a movie theater on Nov. 14 at about 9:50 p.m. The hit-and-run accident occurred in North Bergen between 31st Street and 32nd Street near Kennedy Boulevard. Police are still searching for the red Nissan Rogue that hit the two pedestrians, according to sources.

Tape measure falls 50 stories and kills man

At around 9 a.m. on Nov. 3, a man in New Jersey was killed by a falling tape measure. The work site accident occurred while the victim was delivering some sheet rock to a construction project in downtown Jersey City. When a tape measure weighing one pound fell off of a worker's belt 50 stories up, the item ricocheted off some construction equipment before fatally striking the 58-year-old man in the head.

3 dead after New Jersey crash

In October, prosecutors concluded that a driver who was believed to have caused a fatal accident in New Jersey was speeding and was distracted at the time the collision took place. The crash occurred on Aug. 19 in Freehold when the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta crossed into the oncoming lanes and collided with another car.
