Man charged in New Jersey for car accident that killed 1

According the New Jersey law enforcement, a 41-year-old man from Thorofare was arrested after a fatal head-on motor vehicle accident left a 23-year-old woman dead and two others injured. The incident occurred on Jan. 27 around 11:30 p.m. on Route 206 in Shamong. The man was driving a Ford pick-up when he slammed into a 27-year-old's Saturn. The passenger who died was trapped inside the Saturn, and emergency responders had to extricate her from the vehicle.

She was treated at nearby Cooper Medical Center in Camden, where she later died. The man driving the Ford was driving without a license and had previous criminal convictions for burglary and eluding while driving, according to the New Jersey Department of Corrections. He was on parole during the time of the collision. Police charged him with causing injury while driving without a license and unsafe lane changing, in addition to others charges. According to authorities, he had outstanding warrants for other traffic-related offenses in Berlin.

He was placed into custody and transported to Vetrua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. After he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, he was taken to Burlington County Jail. The other individual who was injured in the accident was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The accident is still under investigation. It is probable that police will attempt to locate any witnesses of the accident and may conduct an accident recreation.

In a case like this, due to expensive medical bills, pain and suffering, and loss of life, a family member of the deceased might hire an attorney to assist in building a case to seek financial compensation. The charges filed against the driver of the Ford may indicate that this was a wrongful death scenario that might entitle the family to compensation.
