Car collides with New Jersey Transit bus

On Behalf of | May 7, 2015 | Car Accidents

In the early morning hours of May 1, a car allegedly ran a red light at an intersection in Newark, New Jersey, colliding with a transit bus. The collision caused a number of injuries to both the occupants of the car and the bus.

The car was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. The passenger in the car was taken to University Hospital in Newark for treatment of critical injuries. Six of the bus’s passengers were treated as well, but none of them had life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the car attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by authorities before he could escape. He was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Additional charges may be pending.

Any person who is injured in a crash due to a driver’s alleged negligence could potentially file a personal injury lawsuit in order to receive compensation for medical and other expenses related to the accident. Personal injury claims are intended to help injured victims pay for practical expenses, such as medical bills and lost income, and for the emotional pain and suffering that are common when an unexpected event results in harm.

Talking with an attorney who is familiar with motorist negligence can help accident victims receive the compensation that they are entitled to. Additionally, an attorney can help accident victims locate resources and organizations that can assist them with the emotional trauma they may experience due to injury or any long-term effects the accident may have on their daily lives.
