Egg Harbor Township Police have charged a New Jersey man with numerous weapons offenses and driving while intoxicated after he allegedly ran his vehicle into cars stopped at a traffic light just before 8 a.m. on Oct. 8. The man was unable to stop his 2008 Mercedes Benz and crashed into a 2014 Ford Focus, setting off a chain of accidents involving three other vehicles.

During the investigation of the accident, EHT Police discovered the man was in possession of hollow-point bullets and a concealed 9mm handgun. The accident took place at the intersection of Fire Road and Black Horse Pike in the Farmington area. Several people were hospitalized with minor injuries. One of the vehicles involved in the accident was a 2014 TriCare Ambulance driven by members of the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad.

The driver reportedly responsible was later detained and charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, receiving stolen property and possession of hollow-point ammunition. The events of the accident were investigated by officers of the EHT Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.

Motorists who suffer injuries as a result of such an accident may consider seeking help from a qualified lawyer in order to secure the compensation owed to them. It may prove beneficial to have the experience of a dedicated personal injury attorney with knowledge of the law, as the medical bills and lost pay from an inability to work can add up quickly.
