A Sept. 26 accident in New Jersey left one person dead and hospitalized another. According to authorities, the Teaneck incident occurred at about 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at the Interstate 80 junction.
That is where a tractor-trailer crashed into a Jeep that had become immobilized on the roadway after striking the median during a single-vehicle accident, officials stated. The a 58-year-old driver of the Jeep had reportedly lost control of the vehicle just south of Exit 70AB. Subsequently, the driver of the northbound tractor-trailer was unable to elude the Jeep.
As a result of the crash, the tractor-trailer flipped over and eventually came to a halt on its side, according to authorities. Officials pronounced the driver of the truck dead at the scene of the accident. The 58-year-old driver of the Jeep suffered head injuries in the wreck, reportedly. Emergency personnel transported him to Hackensack University Medical Center, where officials listed him in stable condition. According to the New Jersey State Police, the accident remains under investigation.
The force generated by large commercial trucks traveling at highway speeds is sufficient to wreak catastrophic damage when a collision occurs. In consequence, truck accidents can be fatal. This particular case exemplifies that reality. The families of people who die in such accidents often seek the counsel and representation of a personal injury lawyer in the aftermath of the event.
That is because a wrongful death suit may be warranted and tenable following a deadly crash. If so, certain family members of the deceased victim may seek restitution for the pecuniary damages suffered in association with the sudden and unforeseen death of their loved one.
