New Jersey workers are often injured in falls or other types of accidents involving ladders, due to overreaching or their lack of stability. A portable lifting platform known as the JLG LiftPod is being used in many workplaces to make tasks that would normally require a ladder safer for workers and bystanders.
Workers on one college campus in Sarasota, Florida, are finding that the platform has increased convenience for tasks that would normally require a ladder while reducing the risk for on-the-job injuries. The platform can, in some instances, reduce the necessity of having two workers for one task in order to comply with OSHA safety protocols to the same task being performed by just one worker.
The lifting platform allows workers to reach a height of 14 feet and perform work tasks with a 360-degree range of motion. The device weighs 139 pounds and is designed for maximum portability. It assembles in less than 30 seconds and can be moved through doorways easily without being disassembled. One of the primary selling points of the lifting pod in addition to its convenience is that it is much safer than using a ladder.
Despite the best of safety precautions, however, workplace accidents will continue to take place. A person who has been injured on the job may be eligible to file a claim for workers’ compensation benefits. These benefits can include the provision of medical care and treatment as well as a percentage of wages lost while the injured victim is unable to work. The procedure for filing a claim is time-sensitive, and many workers obtain the assistance of an attorney during the process.
