Motel footage shows 5-year-old in swimming pool accident

On Behalf of | Oct 2, 2022 | Premises Liability, Slip & Fall Accidents

Swimming pool accidents can range from mild slips to drownings that require emergency care to preserve life. When they happen, time is of the essence. After they happen, it is important to investigate the accident so that people may understand how to prevent similar accidents in the future and from which party to seek compensation.

NJ.com reports on a story of a 5-year-old girl recently stabilizing from a serious swimming pool accident at a motel.

Head injuries caught on camera

While parents stayed nearby, several children played in a motel swimming pool. There is footage of the 5-year-old jumping in and out before receiving a hit to the head from another child’s elbow. After which, she slips under the water’s surface. Thanks to lifesaving measures from laypeople and firefighters providing CPR, emergency responders flew her to a local children’s hospital.

While the report mentions that the girl remains in stable condition, it is still uncertain whether she sustained a brain injury from the contusions to her head or the lack of oxygen.

Details in the aftermath

It is unclear how all the circumstances that led to this accident might affect the case. Though footage of the accident shows the children in close contact, it still occurred on the motel’s premises. Anyone in a similar situation has a lot to sort through, from witness testimony, life flight medical costs and seeking to recover damages. When doing so, it is important to learn as much as possible about a case’s unique factors and options for seeking compensation after a swimming pool accident.
