The potential for injury is great when a vehicle collides with a school bus. Buses are designed with safety in mind, of course, but their main purpose is transporting lots of kids to school at the same time. When a car accident involves a school bus, the results can be devastating simply because of the number of people, mainly kids, likely to be on board a bus at any given time. This is more likely, certainly, during the early morning and mid-afternoon times, when school buses are out in force.
A recent bus accident in Hackensack resulted in a couple of injuries; fortunately, it wasn’t any worse than that. A small school bus was hit by a car that was turning onto the street where the bus was driving at around 8 a.m. on a recent Friday morning. There were only six people on the bus at the time: the bus driver, a bus aide, and four students.
One of the students and the aide complained of back pain in the aftermath of the crash; they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. None of the other students was hurt badly enough to merit treatment, though they were evaluated for any possible injuries on the scene.
While just about any accident involving a school bus can be potentially hazardous, this one was fairly mild. Even so, the two people who reported back pain could feel lasting effects of the collision for some time. As such, they may need to seek compensation for the medical bills that they might be facing.
